BIO
Jordan Cascagnette grew up in Penetanguishene, Ontario. Located on the southern shores of Georgian Bay, “Penetang” – as Jordan often refers to it – is where his ski career began. Starting as a keen Grade 4 student, Jordan’s elementary school was the first to introduce him to the sport. After completing the JackRabbit program with the MountainView Ski Center from Grades 6 to 8, Jordan joined Team Hardwood’s racing program in Grade 9. Jordan’s passion for skiing continued to grow and mixed with hard work and enthusiasm led to some early success on the Canadian racing scene. In 2007, Jordan was ranked the second aggregate Juvenile boy at the Canadian Championships in Mont St. Anne, Quebec. With this success and interest to pursue the sport, Jordan moved to Canmore to join the Alberta World Cup Academy in 2009 and spent two seasons with the team.
Jordan is a kind and patient character, always open to learning from his teammates and respecting what they have to teach him. In the 2009-10 season, Jordan found success in both sprinting and distance events. Blazing up the site in Winthrop, Washington on the SuperTour Circuit, Jordan had his first taste of international success. Jordan won the Junior Men category Skate Sprint and followed up the next day with a bronze medal in the 15km Classic. Traveling to Quebec afterwards to race at the Eastern Championships, Jordan continued to find success with a 4th place in the 10km Skate and a silver medal in the 15km Classic. Jordan also qualified for the 2010-11 Canadian Junior team based on his 2009-10 success.
A well-rounded athlete, Jordan competed in many sports including cross-country running, ball hockey and basketball at a provincial level before choosing to pursue cross-country skiing full-time. Jordan brings a strong work ethic and positivity to any group he is involved in. He is also a talented guitar player and singer and keeps us entertained around the campfire. This season, Jordan qualified for World Junior Championships in Otepaa, Estonia, as well as Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
